A walk around the Mailänderhof reveals just how much space there is here for nature and relaxation. Guests stay in the main farmhouse or the apartment house – cosy, comfortable and surrounded by greenery. All around, the farm comes to life: with the barn, chickens, goats, the little cottage, and lovingly maintained spots such as the farm garden, biotope, duck pond and old wagon shed. The swimming pool offers refreshing moments, children can let off steam at the playground – and the parking area is conveniently located nearby.

Where history takes root and the future grows

The name “Mailänder” comes from the old word mèdelant and roughly means “hay meadow land”. The farm was first mentioned around 1580, with Christian Mailänder recorded as a resident.
In 1950, Edwin Rudolf Steiner and his wife Inge took over the farm. With the construction of the main farmhouse in 1956, they laid the foundation for what would become “holidays on the farm”. Even back then, guests were offered rooms with running water, a swimming pool and even a private ski lift – truly exceptional for the time.
In 1985, their daughter Walburga Elisabeth Borowan took over the operation. In 1994, the farm was expanded with an apartment house built in traditional wooden construction. Today, the approximately 150-hectare farm is managed with great care and a deep connection to nature – and the Carinthian hospitality that has shaped the Mailänderhof for centuries continues to live on through each generation.
